The new BLAZER II VCSEL 3R illuminator features a telescopic dual lens optics assembly; variable zoom 4° to 25° functionality; is constructed of aircraft grade aluminum; has a fully potted LED chip to withstand shock & recoil; a brass threaded insert for "buttery" smooth interface with third party light bodies; and MIL-STD-810 & IP68 environmental performance. Heads are Scout compatible. The BLAZER II fits Modlite, Arisaka, & Z-BOLT® 18350 & 18650 light bodies. Surefire M300/M600 & Arisaka 300/600 light bodies with Z-BOLT® Scout adapters. Auto Power Scaling [Pat. Pending]
Introducing Z-BOLT® Auto Power Scaling™ technology! FDA laser regulations require manufacturers to “throttle” the power output of VCSEL laser chips, so as to meet the particular Class 3R (civilian legal, <1.95mW) or Class 3B (<500mW) FDA laser safety classifications. Laser power meter results for Class 3R illuminators must not exceed 1.95mW when the device is tested (fixed angle - directed at a 7mm sensor @ 10cm). Z-BOLT® Auto Power Scaling™ technology offers the highest possible LEGAL output power for a given beam angle setting - the telescopic adjustment bezel providing the end user with beam angle dependent power control. Where previous 3R VCSEL illuminators fall short (increased angle beam settings where the IR light fails in wide area illumination), the BLAZER II & ACAL units maintain the maximum permissible power based on the product's FDA classification. Available in both Class 3R (<95mW) Class 3B (150mW~400mW) VCSEL configurations.

I absolutely love this light for overnight armed security patrols. It easily overmatches any cheap lights that people may have, has the punch to absolutely get illegal campers' attention, and has the reach to illuminate suspects at very large and dark sites. I used to carry an LED Maglite, but this will be the only light I carry going forward.
Originally bought it as a defensive light. Surprising amount of utility in my trucking job. The tight beam acts more like a laser and goes through windshields and can be angled with mirrors like a handheld ultra long range spotlight. Definitely a new permanent addition to my EDC.
